CAMP B.A.D.G.E

Camp B.A.D.G.E. will be new to the town of Silt.  Hopefully 2016 will mark the first year the Jr. Police Academy will be held in the town.  Here is a little background on the Camp.

Camp B.A.D.G.E is a Jr. Police Academy for children in grades 3-8.  It was started back in August of 2009 in Western Pennsylvania by Officer Josh Uhernik.  The camp is designed to foster relationships between first responders and children within the community.  It give kids a chance to see the importance of police and the police role in society.  Camp lasts a week and is held in the morning between 8am and noon.

During the week, Cadets experience the importance of Physical Training, Mental Preparation,Teamwork, Laws, Firearm Safety, and most of all Friendship.  Each Cadet receives a Uniform, instruction from local law enforcement officers, a framed police badge and letter from the town of Silt, and a hash mark for each year the cadet attends camp.  The Cadets get to see a K-9 Demonstration, take a trip to the Jail, and visit the 911 Center.  On the last day there is a cookout and graduation honoring the Cadets who attend.

If you are interested in learning more, you can contact Officer Uhernik by phone at the Silt Police Department at 970-876-2735 or by email josh@townofsilt.org.
